Jeffrey A. Martin

Background and Law Practice

Jeff comes from a long line of small business owners and approaches his law practice with the same entrepreneurial spirit and pragmatism that his great grandfather used when he founded Martin Carpet Cleaning in 1890, a fourth generation business that’s still in the Martin family. Jeff grew up in Ohio working summers at his dad’s carpet cleaning business but embarked on a different path after college when he worked his way through law school as a management trainee and then commercial loan officer at National City Bank (now PNC Bank) and a law clerk in the Corporate Law Department of Bank One Corporation (now Chase Bank).

After law school, Jeff leveraged his commercial lender experience and legal training as an attorney at Porter Wright in the law firm’s Financial Institutions and Commercial Law Group. Jeff represented banks, credit unions and finance companies before joining Textron Financial Corporation, a Porter Wright client and subsidiary of Textron, Inc., a Fortune 300 company. Jeff held a variety of management and legal oversight responsibilities at Textron Financial that included closing hundreds of asset-based loan and factoring facilities, advising on the purchase and sale of loans and business units, preparation and negotiation of commercial loan and lease agreements and ensuring federal and state regulatory compliance.

Prior to joining Tomasi Salyer Martin, Jeff was an attorney at Farleigh Wada Witt where he represented credit unions, banks and other financial service providers on federal and state regulatory compliance matters, operational issues and consumer and commercial loan transactions. Jeff utilizes his business and finance experience to find practical solutions to close transactions and resolve legal issues while protecting the best interests of his clients.
